What in the world do you do all day!?
A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still
in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes, soda cans
and various wrappers strewn all around the front yard. Bicycles and his
new set of golf clubs were strewn all over, the flowers were drooping and the
water hose was on---filling a virtual swimming pool in the middle of the new
grass seed.
The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the
house and there was no sign of the dog.
Proceeding into the house, in the front hall, he found the coat-tree
had been knocked over and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. The hardwood floor was covered in dirt from the large plant which had been sitting on the now
overturned plant stand.
In the front room the TV was blaring a cartoon channel, there was a
gallon sized plastic milk bottle laying in a huge wet area on the carpet and
the cat was licking up spilled milk next to the soggy box of soda
crackers.
The family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.
In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on
the counter, and the fridge door was wide open.
Dog food was spilled all over the floor, a broken glass lay under the
table, and a pile of sand and mud was spread by the back door with
three different sizes of footprints going back and forth from the back door
to the wide open pantry.
He quickly headed up the stairs, very anxious now, stepping over toys
and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife.
He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had
happened.
He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the
bathroom door.
As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys
strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared
over the mirror and walls.
As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the
bed in her pajamas, reading a novel.
She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went.
He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here today?"
She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come home
from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?"
"Yes," was his incredulous reply.
She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it."

CNN recently published results of research done at Salary.com. It stated that "The typical mother puts in a 92-hour work week, the company concluded, and works at least 10 jobs. In order of hours spent on them per week, these are: housekeeper, day-care center teacher, cook, computer operator, laundry machine operator, janitor, facilities manager, van driver, chief executive officer and psychologist. By figuring out the median salaries for each position, and calculating the average number of hours worked at each, the firm came up with $138,095 -- three percent higher than last year's results."That alone should make any stay at home mom feel valued.
